Marketing your business does not always mean conventional advertising. There are many platforms you can use to create more exposure for your business. Some are completely free; others have paid or freemium options that are still very affordable. Expanding where and how you reach potential customers is always a wise investment, even if it only means investing your time. While most business owners already use Social Media, Map Listing Programs and other popular networks, here some other platforms where you can plug your business and gain exposure to new customers.

Free Platforms

Using all free options to promote your business is a wise option, especially for new enterprises. There are several platforms you can use for free to promote your business outside the mainstream social networking sites. Consider these options:

  • NextDoor: Reach potential customers right in your neighborhood at no cost to you. Create a business profile page on NextDoor for free and reach potential customers in your local area. You can also create a personal profile and add a link to your business page on your personal page.
  • Craigslist: You can also search for people looking for your services and respond directly to them, free of charge. Advertise your products or services on Craigslist (for $5). You can target your local area or put ads all across the country to gain exposure.
  • Alignable: Network with other business owners, gain referrals and build your brand awareness on Alignable. Membership is free, and it can be an excellent way to expand your business.

While it does take time to set up profiles and manage your platforms, these sites are a free and creative way to build your brand.

Paid or Freemium Platforms

There are some other platforms to consider for extending your reach to new consumers. Paid or freemium (free to use, with options for paid upgrades) platforms may still fit your budget with less competition than completely free platforms. Two options that are popular include Houzz and Angieโ€™s List. ย

  • Houzz is free to create a profile but offers advertising options.
  • Angieโ€™s List is another platform that offers a free profile, but if you upgrade to a paid advertiser, you get better exposure in organic searches by consumers on their site.
