Potentially exciting news for small businesses: Facebook recently revealed Pages on mobile devices are getting a makeover. The new design will allow for better engagement with customers, with new features including booking appointments, making a reservation, and other business interactions that can be performed directly from the Business Page. Here are some of the highlights from the new Facebook Business page update:

Facebook Recommendations

As you may know, reviews (good or bad) can go a long way for a small business. But what if somebody could recommend your business to a friend with ease… Enter: Facebook Recommendations. The Recommendations feature is being utilized by Facebook power users and influencers alike. Building good reviews within your community will prove beneficial to your businesses with this great new feature.

Event Promotion

Events have always been a useful tool for Small Business Page admins, but this feature is getting a reboot. Instead of simply advertising an event, businesses will soon be able to sell tickets directly from the Event Page. In many cases, more tickets are sold from an Event Page than via the business website.

Job Applications

An expansion of the job application tool has been rolled out to cover the entire world; allowing more businesses to hire via the Facebook App. Small businesses, especially, will benefit from a “local” section that will become part of the Facebook App, and as a separate Facebook Local app that is designed to highlight local businesses and any events being attended by friends.

There are currently around 80 million small businesses using free business tools on the platform, according to Facebook. In recent years, with users shying away from engagement with business pages, leveraging those tools has often been challenging for smaller businesses. While the redesign may present a bit of a learning curve for small business owners, the potential meaningful engagements with clients and customers are undeniable.

It is important for small businesses to market to customers where they are most likely to hang out, and Facebook is still one of the most utilized social media platforms on the net.
