Search engine optimization (SEO) all boils down to getting your business’ website to rank high in search engines. There are many factors that contribute to reaching this goal. It used to be as simple as filling up all of your pages with a ton of keywords. However, today, there is far more that goes into SEO than that.

The phrase “Content is King” is something that needs to be engraved in the memory and taken into consideration while you are coming up with your website content. Content is simply everything that users search for. This includes pictures, videos, blog content, website articles, etc. The more quality content and unique content you have on your website means the more traffic your small business will see.

As stated in the title, Google loves unique content and you should too. Google ultimately decides where your website is going to rank at. However, it is not a “rigged game,” you have the power to make it to the top. As long as you cater to what Google is looking for. Having unique content on your page is going to set you apart from other websites.

Without having unique content on your website, you will fade into the back and blend in with all of the other websites with similar content. This will be sure to put a damper on your website’s ranking in the search engine. You will not have anything to make you stand out and users will pick other sites over your site. Most search engines actually filter out duplicate content. This usually means that they will not even bother showing content that is the same.

So how do you ensure that you have the most unique website content and that you are running an effective marketing strategy for your business? The answer is actually quite simple.

For starters, if you are not a writer, you can hire people who have a knack for creativity. You can hire a content management company who will have writers that will add some flair and uniqueness to spruce up your content marketing efforts on your website. Although the results are not going to be instantaneous, copywriters can bring your vision and ideas to fruition. All you have to do is make up a simple outline of the angle you want, along with guidelines and let the magic ensue.

However, if you do not have the time and/or resources to hire copywriters, you can create your own content. If you can successfully produce unique, relevant, and well-researched website content, then more power to you! This way of doing it is much more direct plus, you don’t have to train or instruct someone on how to write what you are thinking. It really just depends on which way is easier for you to keep a handle on all the content you will consistently need. If you can handle writing all of the content yourself, then you should do it. However, if you feel like you may need some outside help, and you have the time, money and ability to articulate your vision, then it is worth a try.

The content on your website should still be rich in keywords, but the images and the bulk of the website content needs to adhere to what Google and your users are looking for. Also, keep in mind that most people do not actually thoroughly read web content. They scan the pages and pick out the most interesting sentences and phrases to read. With that being said, you need to structure your content in such a way that the user will not need or want to skip any parts of the content.

If followed correctly and consistently, you are now much closer to bringing your site to the top of your favorite search engine and having a steady flow of user traffic.
