Tips to Make the Most of Valentine’s Day Marketing

  • Create a location event – If you have a brick and mortar location, schedule an event to honor and celebrate your loyal customers exclusively. Create a festive atmosphere with lots of the normal hearts and red/pink/white color schemes. Serve champagne, sparkling cider and other treats. Provide brand-related swag gifts. You could include coupons for special deals and discounts. Allow invitees to bring a friend and potentially create more customers.
  • Create an online event –  Livestream your location event with those who might not be able to attend. Give special deals or free gifts to your social media followers by rewarding them with downloadable content, coupons or prizes. You could do the entire event online if you don’t have a brick and mortar location.
  • Use the language of love –  Lace your social media postings and ads with fun and flirty phrases and icons that conjure up romantic imagery. Allow ads and posts to serve as greetings, poetry, and care for your customers. For example: Mon Cheri, here is your 80 percent off for just being you!
  • Love notes & gifts – Use direct mail or email to send your customers a love letter thanking them for their patronage. Issue a code or coupon to redeem for a free item, no purchase necessary.   • Not just one day – Celebrate the entire week or more before Valentine’s Day, or make it a month of love. Use social media to promote your upcoming event or give-away by posting a new promotion every day. 
  • Add some mystery –  A bit of intrigue and mystery can spice up any relationship. Leading up to your event or promotion, leave them wanting just a little more until the big reveal or give away. Post a new teaser each day. Example: Love comes in 7 days! This might be something your customers share with friends, giving you more prospects to woo for your target marketing next time.

In the end, the best way to woo your customers is to genuinely treat them to great products and customer service. Highlight it on Valentine’s Day, but practice it year-round.
